Patient Admission
Pre-Admission
Most patients booked for admission to Jessie McPherson Private Hospital will be contacted by a Pre-Admission Nurse via telephone prior to the day of their admission. The purpose of the pre-admission contact is to obtain important health information and other personal details relevant to your admission and to give you information as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
What to bring to hospital:
Comfortable bed attire/footwear/toiletries
Medications/relevant X-rays/scans
Health insurance details
Medicare card
Veteran’s Affairs card
Pension/Health Care Card/Safety Net Card
Glasses/hearing aid etc (labelled)
Day of Admission
On the day of admission, we require you to present to the Jessie McPherson Private Hospital Reception desk which is located next to the main entrance to the hospital on Level 2. A Patient Services staff member will be available to assist you at the reception from 6am to 8pm. At this point, we will collect any forms you have completed and confirm your personal and financial details. A staff member will then escort you to your ward.
Patient discharge
Expected time of discharge is 9.30am. Please make arrangements with your carer to take you home prior to this time or we can assist in organising transport on your behalf at reception.
Your post hospital care is just as important to us as your hospital stay. A series of discharge information fact sheets are available and where appropriate these will be given to you upon discharge.
