History

Jessie McPherson Private Hospital has a proud tradition of bringing quality health care to the people of Melbourne.

The hospital's history reaches back as far as 1930 to a central city church hall when a pioneering group of female doctors recognised an urgent need for a hospital to treat Melbourne's ailing female population.  Jessie McPherson Private Hospital became a reality when the State Premier, Sir William McPherson, donated the sum of £25,000 to build a hospital in the memory of his mother, Mrs Jessie McPherson.

In 1987 the hospital moved to its present home in Clayton and is co-located with Monash Medical Centre.

Jessie McPherson Private Hospital is equipped with some of the most modern and advanced medical facilities in Victoria.  It provides treatment for a range of medical, surgical and obstetric patients from all over Melbourne and throughout the State.
